Hi Wendy,
Your photos and food look amazing! I see you are selling sunwarrior products. I’ve been meaning to buy some but haven’t yet because of the price but I hear it’s a GREAT product and that they last a while. I would love to know what blender recipes you use with any of the sunwarrior products. Also I’ve been using the sweetleaf liquid stevias. I have the original and also like the apricot and vanilla cream for green smoothies. Would love to experiment more with these and other flavors. Happy belated birthday. Sounds like you’re having a blast there!
Nicole Reilly
Hi Nicole,
Thank you for the nice compliments and for the birthday wishes 🙂 Also, thank you for engaging with me on this blog. Just so you know, I’m not selling Sunwarrior (but I can see how you thought that so I’ll make it clear – thank you). Sunwarrior offers wonderful products that I personally use and enjoy. I especially like their Warrior Blend Raw Vegan Protein Powder. It’s a new product that came out this year. I use it in smoothies everyday and love it. As for smoothie blender recipes, lately, I’m on a green smoothie kick. Here’s one: 1 Thai Young Coconut (meat and water), One scoop Warrior Blend Vanilla, 2 cups of Spinach, 1 tsp. of Spirulina (I use HealthForce Superfood), a little fresh ginger, a little pinch of cayenne pepper, sometimes I add 1/2 of a cucumber and 1 celery stick and I blend in my BlendTec blender. Depending on how much coconut water you get out of your coconut, you may need to add more water. Honestly, I tend to throw whatever I have in the fridge into the blender for a smoothie – sometimes it’s great and sometimes…not so great! Have fun experimenting with flavors and please do share any smoothie recipes that you uncover are great and I’ll do the same.
I will have to try that recipe. Thanks! I’ve been doing and loving green smoothies too with my vitamix but have yet to try it with fresh coconut.I have the book Green Smoothie Revolution by Victoria Boutenko but usually just make fresh oj and add spinach, mango, ice and vanilla cream stevia or kale with pear, rasberry, mint and water as the base. I heard David Wolfe speak at Maddys’ Market and go to this place in town called Oasis Wellness. Occasionally they have some speaker on health. The people from Sunwarrior came to speak as well as Dr Brian Clement. The other night they did some recipes with samples to try. They made some great drinks using Ron Teagardens Spring Dragon Longevity Tea and the super muesli was yummy!
Soak the following two items in 1/2 cup water overnight.
1.5 tablespoons chia seeds
1.5 tablespoons oat groats
1 handful goji berries
Stri in:
1 teaspoon maca
1 teaspoon mesquite
2 tablespoons hemp seeeds
1.5 teaspoons bee pollen
1/2 scoop sunwarrior vanilla protein powder
1 teaspoon honey or 5 drops liquid stevia ( he used vanilla cream liquid steivia by sweetleaf)
Top with chopped figs, walnuts and cinnamin
How long have you been eating this way? Your eyes sparkle and your skin glows!
Hi Nicole,
The recipe you gave above sounds amazing. I’ll definitely give it a try. Also, thank you for the book suggestion. I don’t have any smoothie books and I’ll definitely buy that one since you like it. By the way, I’ve amended the recipe I gave you above and I think it tastes even better:
1 Thai Young Coconut (meat and water)
1 Mango
1.5 cups of Spinach
A bit of lemon grass
1 or 2 dates to sweeten or (agave if watching sugar)
1/4″ or less of a Thai Chile or 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper
One scoop Warrior Blend Vanilla
1 tsp. of Spirulina (I use HealthForce Superfood)
*Blend all ingredients in a high speed blender and enjoy
Lastly, I’ve only been a vegan since September 2011. Thank you for the nice compliments on my skin and eyes. I still have a long way to go but it’s nice to know that it’s noticeable…my husband has been saying the same thing 🙂 The weight has been coming off steadily and slowly and I’m happy for this.
Thank you for engaging with me on this blog.
Just to clarify the recipe I gave is for a breakfast muesli. No need to blend, just stir together. I’ll see if I can find lemongrass at Whole Fods as I’ve never bought it but happy to try.

I would like to read anything by Gabriel Counens also.
Wendy,
Looks like you are having quite the time at culinary school. While I claim to be a foodie, I have always been a little apprehensive of the whole raw movement. I look forward to learning from your experience and education and perhaps I can open my mind to this healthy balanced way of living. Hope you are well! 🙂
Thank you for stopping by to visit Annika. I appreciate you taking the time to engage with me. I am having so much fun learning so many wonderful ways to prepare healthy and nutritious food and am meeting many wonderful people from all over the world. I hope that in some small way, my experience will inspire you and Jon to perhaps consider adding some gourmet raw vegan dishes to your repertoire. Thanks again for stopping by 🙂
Hey Wendy, so cool you are writing a blog while your studies!! I would love to become a raw vegan chef! it sounds fabulous!! keep on the good work!
Hi Naraleska,
Thank you for your encouragement and nice compliments. I encourage you to become a raw vegan chef. I am having a wonderful time and meeting wonderful people from all over the world.
I love following your blog. The Chai pudding sounds amazing!
Thank you for saying that Nicole…you’re so nice. The Chai Pudding is SO yummy and very satisfying! It’s a meal on its own. Almond milk, banana, vanilla extract, maple syrup and chia seeds – with that combination how bad could it be?
Hi Wendy,
I have been a vegan for the last five years, and recently became a raw food devotee. I would like to know the name of a culinary school that I could attend where I can become more proficient in preparing raw food recipes.
Thank you.
Hi Jennifer,
The name of the school I attended is called Matthew Kenney Academy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. I’m not sure where you live but I could suggest others schools as well.
